The ISU-DoE&SE KP, established on August 31, 2018, is a notified unit of the DoE&SE-KP and is committed to driving systemic improvements in education, with the technical and financial assistance of UNICEF, across all 36 districts of KP. Primarily established in order to mainstream DRR into education and ensure adherence to Provincial, National, and International Safety Frameworks on Hazard Identification, Preparedness, Mitigation, and Prevention, ISU-DoE&SE KP grew into a unit mandated to drive systemic improvements in the educational landscape of KP by strengthening government schools, empowering teachers, enhancing student outcomes, and engaging communities.
ISU-DoE&SE KP focuses on enhancing the quality of education through teacher training and innovative pedagogical approaches. It promotes inclusive education by ensuring access to education for marginalized and vulnerable groups, including girls and children with disabilities. Integrating disaster preparedness and climate resilience into the education sector is another priority to safeguard learning continuity during emergencies. ISU-DoE&SE KP also leverages community involvement in education through extensively engaging PTCs, local leaders and community in its endeavors. ISU-DoE&SE KP addresses key areas such as ECE, support for children with Learning Difficulties, and MHPSS to ensure comprehensive educational development. Moreover, ISU-DoE&SE KP employs data and analytics to inform program decisions, optimize resource allocation, and improve educational outcomes.
